The headdress is inspired by the feather headdresses worn traditionally across central and south America, but made from pleated fabric. His intricate cape has tiny fabric shapes, wooden beads and tiny shells sewn across it in bands and was inspired by some examples of Native American Indian and West African clothing which are decorated with small amulets of bone, shell, leather, bone and metal.
The fabrics used are a mix of woven, block printed and plain cottons from India.
